Introduction

Hello everyone! I’m excited to share my journey with you. Over the past few years, I’ve transitioned from graphic design to financial planning. It’s been a challenging but rewarding experience, and I’m eager to help others who are looking to make a similar change. In this post, I’ll share my story and outline three ways we can work together.

My Story

In 2020, I realized that I couldn’t afford to provide for myself and my family as a graphic designer anymore. I struggled with the way that I was so secluded and recluse inside my house or apartment, and I couldn’t compete with some of the people who would do things for complex work for a limited amount of product cost. I started a new job as a life insurance agent for Globe Life in Taylorsville. That went well for a little while, except I couldn’t make any money. I had one sale in about two months, and the lady thanked me in a way I had never been thanked before. I realized that I could make a great career in financial services, but I had to make a little bit of money. So that winter, I sold cars for Southtown Mazda, and then that spring, I started in a call center with USA. I got my property and casualty licenses and transitioned to State Farm, where I worked for 19 months. When I first started with State Farm, I told my agent that I would be there for 18 months to two years because my dream was to be an agent myself. I didn’t want to have a boss. I’ve never liked having a boss and kind of like to do things on my terms, work with my clients, and have some ownership in the outcome.

Three Ways We Can Work Together

If you’re looking for a financial planner, I can be a partner. I offer three different ways to work with my clients:

  1. Commission-based planning: You don’t have to pay me anything because whatever company we place that business with pays me a commission. This is primarily insurance policies, etc.
  2. Asset under management: This is where you might have some money, maybe it’s an old dormant 401K that’s not being taken care of or an account that’s experiencing less growth or more volatility than you like. I help take care of that, get it earning for you, and protect that money for your financial future.
  3. Comprehensive fee-based financial plan: This is where we draw out everything based on your current situation, all of your policies, all your accounts, and what your budget looks like. Some clients really just need a budget. Some of my clients are looking to retire, and some of my clients have money that they just need to be protected, so it’s different for every single person. This unique approach allows me to help a variety of people.
    Whether they’re just starting their financial journey or just ending and need to make sure that they don’t run out of money, and along that path, we’re making sure that their assets are protected if they have a car accident, or are sick or injured and can’t work, or need long-term care later in life. How that’s going to look like, and how they can protect their assets and their families from the financial destruction that those things can cause.
